Monica West

Monica grew up in the Maritimes, and has always identified herself as an “East Coaster” but has spent the last 12 years living in Calgary, AB. She has recently returned to Halifax after a long time away, but immediately felt like she was home. Monica has two beautiful boys, Owen, 7 and Simon, 4, and has worked as an Elementary school teacher for the past 10 years, specializing in early childhood education, literacy and physical education. She truly became hooked on yoga after her first hot Baptiste power flow class, and right away noticed increased strength and energy, but also the sense of calm, balance and wellbeing that goes along with a regular yoga practice. Her hot practice soon switched to prenatal yoga when pregnant with her second child, and she discovered the incredible benefits of continuing yoga throughout pregnancy. In 2013 she took her 200 hour Yoga teacher training in Calgary led by Kim Mcmullen, immediately followed by 75 hours of pre/postnatal yoga training. She has been teaching yoga in Calgary ever since. Monica is blessed to have found a new yoga home at Halifax Yoga, and can’t wait to share her love of yoga with you!
