Holly Althouse

Holly began practicing yoga at home in 2003 after her sister gave her a Yoga book for Christmas. She soon found the practice helped to relieve tension in her body from long hours at the piano but it was only after her first studio class that Holly really experienced something special.

She felt a deep peace as if she had been renewed from the inside out. Yoga has contributed so much to Holly’s life that she decided to take the Teacher Training Program in the midst of completing her Education degree. She is currently an elementary school substitute teacher and a Yoga instructor.

Holly is passionate about children and has completed a training course through YogaKids, an internationally recognized program that specializes in teaching yoga to kids.

Holly is both inspired and committed to continue her journey of yoga by deepening her personal practice and growing as a teacher.

I wish: To live life fully in the present moment, not seeking the destination but accepting, learning, and growing from life’s inevitable ups and downs.
I am thankful for: My amazing parents. They have given me endless support, love & guidance.
What gives you peace? Being in nature & a good book by a fire.
Why Yoga? It’s the most holistic practice I have ever tried. Anybody and any BODY can benefit from yoga.
3 words to describe you: Compassionate, Optimistic, Determined
What / who inspires you? Those who live passionately on purpose.
What you can’t live without? My yoga mat, music, good conversation.
Favorite yoga pose and why? Supta Baddha Konasana (Reclined Bound Angle Pose). It restores me & helps ease stress and fatigue.
Secret comfort foods? Homemade soup & chocolate chip cookies (warm out of the oven).
Words to live by: Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. ~ Mark Twain
Best advice you’ve ever received (from who?): You can’t resurrect time. Remember, how we spend our days is how we spend our life.
What do you love to do for FUN? Dance, laugh, hike, play the piano, eat out.
Local escape: York Redoubt, beaches on the south shore, any spa!
