I first came to Halifax Yoga last September when I joined the 40 Days to Personal Revolution program. I’d had a little bit of experience with yoga in the past few years, but I’d never regularly attended a studio while living with my parents in Murray Corner, NB. I came across HY and the 40 Days when I knew I was moving back to the city and was looking for somewhere to practice. I’d really enjoyed the little yoga that I had done, and having dealt with anxiety and depression for over ten years, I knew that keeping physically active was important for my mental health. The challenge of attending classes as often as possible over the 40 days seemed like a great way to commit to getting out of the house and moving every day.
I got so much more out of the 40 Days experience than I could ever have anticipated. I grew so much and learned so much about myself. I love the opportunities that HY offers for further growth and learning, and I try to take advantage of as many events and workshops as I can! Someone asked me if I feel as though I’m looking at the world through a different lens, and I had to say that I feel as though I am interacting with – and living in – the world in a different way.
