With so many styles and choices offered at HY you may want some guidance as you embark on your Yoga journey.

If a class suggested doesn’t feel right for you please let us know. With 60 classes per week featuring all different styles of yoga, and an incredible team of experienced teachers, we are committed to finding the right class for you. Our classes run 7 days a week and we now have two studios in operation. We hope our Yoga community helps you to shape your body and calm your mind.
Yoga is for Every Body
At HY we believe that yoga is for every body. It’s simply a matter of finding the styles, teachers, and times that fit you and your unique life. We suggest that Absolute Beginners start with our 6 week Intro to Yoga Program. This program is designed to be progress as you do and it focuses on a different physical and philosophical theme each week. You even get to do “Omwork” between classes!
Intro to Yoga | Starts every 6 weeks ~ Wednesdays from 6:00 – 7:15pm
HY’s 6 week program is designed exclusively for new students and students starting back to yoga after an extended period. You will learn the fundamentals of yoga postures and breathing techniques. Gain insight into the principles of yoga philosophy and cultivate inner body awareness to guide your practice. The supportive environment of this class will provide you with the necessary foundation to develop a safe and rewarding yoga practice. Pre-registration required.
*If you can’t commit to a 6 week program try out any of these classes that are great for a beginner which include; Flow, Yin, Restorative, Yin|Yang and Traditional Hot. These drop in classes allow you to come when your schedule permits and pay as you go.
HY’s Vinyasa Flow class will strengthen, stretch and relax your entire body. It’s a fantastic class for those new to Yoga or those looking for a slower paced class. The term “vinyasa” is a Sanskrit word used to define the sequence in the sun salutation series of… chaturanga, up dog, down dog, all linked to breath. The emphasis is on foundational postures and breathing techniques. You’ll deepen your knowledge of alignment and gain insight into the principles of yoga philosophy. Beginners Welcome! All Levels.
HY’s Yin:Yang is the perfect balance of strength and flexibility to cultivate a sense of energy and peace. The class begins with a Yang practice (a Vinyasa Flow) to energize and strengthen the body and finishes with a slow and deep practice (Yin postures) to open the body and still the mind. All levels welcome.
HY’s Restorative Yoga class allows you to experience the gift of receiving postures rather than initiating them. These relaxing postures are fully supported by blankets, bolsters and other props and are held longer to invite release and enhance breath awareness. Each posture reduces the effects of chronic stress related diseases and deep fatigue, and the careful sequencing of the postures assures your experience of the deepest relaxation possible. Perfect for individuals looking for stress relief, suffering from illness, injury or major life changes, and is also ideal for a very gentle introduction to yoga techniques. No prior yoga experience necessary.
New students are welcome to print and complete the Halifax Yoga waiver form before their first class to save time during their first visit. Please note, young adults under 18 years of age require the signature of a guardian.
